Riley also enjoys using his free time to play with school friends. He works hard at school and usually avoids cleaning up his room except when his allowance is on the line or when his coaches come over for a visit.
Riley McCormick is a member of Boardworks Dive Team, training 13 hours per week at Saanich Commonwealth Pool.
Workouts include 1.5 hours of dry land training with strength conditioning and trampoline training followed by 1.5 hours of practice in the water.
Boardworks excels in training Age Group divers for competition. Boardworks is the second ranked junior club, the top ranked male junior team and the top ranked 15 and under team in Canada. Boardworks has been in operation for just over five years and has the focus to build championship divers and to place athletes on Olympic teams.
On average the divers will execute 600 dives per week (approximately 45 weeks per year for 27,000 per year). In his 5 years on the competitive team Riley has executed approximately 135,000 dives. By the time he reaches the 2008 Olympics he will have performed nearly 700,000 dives.
His Coach is Tommy McLeod - three-time Canadian Dive Coach of the Year. Boardworks Head Coach is Trevor Palmatier - a top ranked National and Jr. National coach.
